No Shortage of Outdoor Adventures

While Brookhaven certainly has plenty of noteworthy indoor venues, our numerous outdoor activities make this a perfect place to have some fun when you get that “no ceiling feeling.”

Start with a visit to any of our beautiful local parks.

By far the largest, Murphey Candler Park is filled with everything from sporting fields to green spaces for simply unwinding with a good book. A central lake offers bird watching, while a surrounding trail allows for a leisurely hike or jog. Be sure to bring your suit if you want to hit the swimming pool after (or instead of) your exploration.

Blackburn Tennis Center features 18 lighted hard courts, along with a pro shop and a staff of experienced tennis professionals. Here, they host league play, tournaments and special events. Open play is of course welcome, too. Reserve your court beforehand, or sign up for some classes to bolster your backhand.

Our four-legged friends enjoy a beautiful day outside just as much as we do. Get social at our local dog parks – including the Brookhaven Dog Park, which encompasses roughly 5.5 acres of enclosed space within Brookhaven Park. Let them off the leash and revel in their romping. After all, sometimes the most enjoyable physical activity is of the vicarious variety.

Or maybe ‘Downward Dog’ is more your speed. Stretch out and find your balance in the fresh air with an outdoor yoga session. YogaWorks has a large patio space for when warmer weather comes calling.

And more outdoor options are soon to come! The first section of the Peachtree Creek Greenway was recently completed in Brookhaven. This path will eventually extend all the way from the BeltLine to the Lindbergh Center MARTA station – allowing for convenient walking, running and biking to connect the adjoining communities.

In addition, a $40 million-dollar bond was passed for local park improvements. Lynwood Park will be getting a new splash pad and zero-entry pool to provide a little relief during those hot summer months. It’s a little something more to look forward to while you’re exploring our incredible neighborhoods.
